Research

ProKalm is the most researched calming product in the world and this combination has been shown in scientific studies to have a number of beneficial effects on calming, behavior, stereotypical behaviors and increased gait and performance.

FAQ’s:

Q: Why not magnesium?
A: Despite many myths, there is no scientific evidence that magnesium has any calming effect in horses.

Q: Why not Tryptophan?
A: Tryptophan signals to the body that it is exhausted and has a negative effect on performance.

Q: How long before I should start to see any benefit?
A: Our research studies indicate that when feeding the syringe the best results are after 30 minutes to 2 hours. When feeding the feed supplements it is best fed 2-4 hours or on a more regular basis for consisted and prolonged results. You can up the feeding rate accordingly as the desired results vary from owner to owner.

Q: Do I need to give this with feed?
A: The syringe can be fed in isolation. The feed supplements should be mixed with feed, ideally twice a day, and follow the feeding instructions on the above tab.

Q: Is it safe to give to competition horses?
A: Yes, there are no prohibited substances in this product and all our products are manufactured and tested under our UFAS licence and NOPS scheme.

Q: How much should I give?
A: Please see our detailed feeding guide on the above tab.

Ingredients & Feeding Guide | Tub & Pouch

Level 25ml (16g) scoops per day

  •     Pony - approximately 250kg | 1-3 Scoops
  •     Horse - approximately 500kg | 2-4 Scoops
  •     Large Horse - over 750kg | 2-6 Scoops

Mix thoroughly with feed and split between meals where possible. Introduce to feed slowly.

Always start with the minimum feeding rate. If after 2 days a stronger effect is needed, then increase the daily feeding rate, up to the maximum recommended daily intake (e.g. 4 scoops for a 500kg horse). If a less potent effect is required then decrease the daily feeding rate. Individual horses may respond differently and the level of intake should be adjusted to obtain the required effect. The effects of ProKalm may be seen in as little as 30 minutes. The effects of a single feed can last for up to 8 hours. Peak effects are usually observed 2-4 hours after feeding.

For difficult behaviours, the effect may take 2-3 days to stabilise. The effects of ProKalm are more predictable and consistent when it is fed regularly twice a day. For further information and advice contact our Nutritional Advice Line on 01604 263002.
